Spirit Speaks Truth

Last night it snowed. And the temp this morning is a crisp 30 degrees, with flurries continuing throughout the day.
Despite all that, because it is winter y’all, I bundled up, put my boots on and headed out.
I started thinking about what am I training for? Is it a 5k? Or a half marathon? Maybe a marathon in the summer would be a great thing to accomplish?
And then my spirit whispered, you’re training for life.
Different mindset…different outlook…different outcome.

Lighthouse

Lighthouses
-beacons guiding safe passage through a storm
-standing tall and strong on rocky shores

Yet, you…yes…you are also a house of light.
Your inner beacon got you through life’s challenges.
And because of your light cascading through the darkness, someone else was guided to safety.

A lighthouse is not just a structure, it’s a heart beat, a breath, a soul. It’s in all of us.

We just have to recognize it.
Then do whatever it takes to keep the light brightly burning.

Be Alive

Most people have no idea that tragedy & silence often have the exact same address. Muscle is created by lifting things that are designed to weigh us down. When your shoulders are heavy stand up straight & call it exercise. Life is a gym membership with a really complicated cancellation policy. Remember, you are still here. The human heart beats 4,000 times per hour & each pulse, each throb, each palpitation is a trophy, engraved with the words You are still alive. You are still alive. So act like it. Rudy Francisco

Miss Maddie

This is Maddie, aka Queen Madeline. Because anyone who lives with cats, knows they rule. She was adopted, along with her sweet brother, Monty, aka Montgomery the year I was getting divorced. She was a wee 3 pounds and about 6 weeks old. I loved her spunkiness, which she’s never lost. Her nickname is bitch because sometimes she can be wicked as well. Like when she smacks me in the ankle as I walk by to my kitchen, early in the morning when she wants to be fed. Or when she scratches the furniture then innocently looks at me to see my reaction. But she doesn’t seem to mind the nickname because she’s deaf. Something I discovered after she was living with me for awhile. However I still talk to her in a normal voice and use hand gestures when I want her to jump up beside me or stop her antics.
This year I celebrated my 10th year of singleness. This year she and her brother will celebrate 11 years of living a pampered lifestyle. And I’m grateful for every laugh they bring, every greeting they give, and every cuddle. That’s my leg she’s up against. A special being, along with her brother…
